Tilbury Fort, Essex

Tilbury Fort is constructed on a site previously fortified by Henry VIII and is the most complete example of its type in England. Working with English Heritage, Crispin & Borst is undertaking re-roofing of the guardhouse and chapel along with various stone repairs and decorations. Extensive re-pointing using hydraulic lime (no cement) was a particularly sensitive operation and was completed right first time to the complete satisfaction of the Architect.
