CENTREX Police Training Centre, Bramshill

Crispin & Borst were awarded this contract through the OGC Framework which involved the major refurbishment of an existing 1960’s hall into a state of the art Conference Centre. The contract was awarded on the 28th December 2004 with a view to commencing works on the 5th January 2005. Works were completed within a 7 week programme in time for a major conference planned in February.

Before actual ‘build’ works could commence, we undertook full demolition and strip out of the existing toilet, reception area and main hall including all mechanical and electrical fixtures and fittings. Due to the timescales much of the refurbishment works involved many design and build elements with the main floor area in the hall being redeveloped so that at any one time, 100+ people could be seated for a conference.

Within the floor area we installed state of the art sound and visual facilities linked to the main lectern situated on the stage itself. The hall needed to be of an acoustic design which was achieved through the installation of acoustic wall panels and fabric kites for the ceiling.

The stage was designed to be accessible for both disabled and able bodied people alike and was achieved by installing steps at one end of the stage and a lift at the other end. A large screen with a rear projector and two smaller plasma TV’s either side of the stage remained the focal point and centre piece for the overall effect. A Reception area was formed with timber panels and a main reception desk and cloakroom installed. The toilet areas were repositioned including installation of a disabled WC and were all panelled out with timber panels to complement the fell of the reception area.

Additional works included external refurbishment of the roof, decorations and landscaping.
